Hooray for small victories!
I ran the lake again today. Yay! By myself. Booo! Wilson ran yesterday, and Christine can't run anymore because her physical therapist said it was bad for her neck. I was laying in bed after I called Wilson and found out he already ran, and I was in that state where I had just about convinced myself not to go. (I was sort of tired, and I wasn't sure I'd get back in time for church.) BUT, I got my lazy ass out of bed, pulled on some shorts and a T-shirt, and drove to the lake.
I decided to start from the boathouse just for a change, and I took my cd player. After stretching a bit, I pressed play, and as I did, I saw that the cd was about 47:51 mins long. I thought to myself, 'I'm going to try to finish before this cd ends.' I didn't quite reach my goal, but I made it in just under 50 mins. Not too bad, considering I got a cramp in my side, and my knee started aching halfway through (It ususally doesn't hurt until after I finish). The music helped, though -- running to the beat. It sucks that I had to sprint (and believe me, it was a pretty lame sprint) at the end to make the 50-minute mark. I think I will try to make it in 47 minutes with no sprinting. That was my fastest time sophomore year in high school when I was rowing and in much better shape than I am now. But I'm happy with my 50 minutes. =) Fifty minutes for 4.5 miles is pretty good, I think, considering my current state of fitness.
I can already tell I'm going to be sore tomorrow, though. I can feel my legs getting tight. Plus, I need to remind myself that my older nephew is no longer a baby. I carried him to my sister's car tonight like he was a baby because he was sick and I said, "Awww, I'm going to carry the poor sick monkey to the car like a little bebe ..." Big mistake. That kid's like 60 lbs. My arms and back are killing me, and my elbows feel like they were dislocated. So, basically, I'm going to be an invalid tomorrow ...
And on a random, but semi-related note ...
I bought my friend Oli a Hawaiian shirt when I went there a few years ago on spring break with my parents. I got matching shirts for him and Eddie coz they were roomies (the cute kind, too. Boy roommates are often times adorable in their interactions). Oli's was green print, because that's his favorite color, and Eddie's was blue because -- that's right; you guessed it -- that's his favorite color. Eddie wore his shirt all the time, but I never saw Oli wear his, so I was a little disappointed. But Oli just IMed me:
oli: i wore your hawaiin shirt last week
