Boooooooooooooooooooo
Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is to address your concerns regarding having Tiger, the 3-year-old lhasa apso, at the front desk. I understand that you feel that having a dog in the lobby may be a distraction, but in Tiger's case, you are mistaken. For the most part, after Tiger's initial greeting in the morning, he simply sleeps on the desk and I do my work at the far side of the desk. He is so quiet in fact, that many people do not even realize he's at the desk and visitors ask if he is a real dog. I don't feed the dog until lunch time, which is considered my personal time.
On the rare occasions when Tiger is actually conscious, I do sometimes play with him but never in the prescence of employees and guests who may need help. Every so often I put Tiger on my lap to keep me warm, because the lobby is sometimes cold even when I turn up the thermostat, but I always put him down if I need to help someone, and his being in my lap has little effect on my ability to work. Therefore, I believe your request is somewhat unfounded and am very disappointed in your ung***ley attitude.
Furthermore, I feel that your request will have a negative effect on other employees. Tiger has many friends in the building and many of them were sad and disappointed when I told them he wouldn't be coming in for a while. One gentleman even said he was "devasted." I believe the loss of Tiger may actually lower building morale as many employees come out to visit him when they are stressed out about work. Tiger's mere prescence makes people smile and feel better about coming in to the office. However, since the dog policy states that employees must heed other employees' complaints concerning pets, there is nothing I can really do except voice my concerns and the disappointment of my fellow employees.
Thank you for your time and for breaking my heart by taking away the one privilege that truly makes me look forward to going to work. I hope that I can better serve you now that I am depressed and lonely at the front desk.
Sincerely,
Kristina
