EIGHT and O, baby!
The best team in the West.
We’re marching on to victory,
To conquer all the rest.
We are the Mighty Bruins,
Triumphant evermore.
You can hear from far and near,
The Mighty Bruin roar!
U! (clap, clap, clap)C! (clap, clap, clap) L! (clap, clap, clap) A! (clap, clap, clap)
U-C-L-A! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Drew Olson and the rest of the mighty Bruins celebrate victory!
Can I just say Spencer Havner is awesome? Not only is he a stellar player, but he comes up with this stuff:
"Stanford is just a weird program," Havner said. "I thought a Cardinal was a bird, and then I thought it was a pine tree (because of the mascot). And what, it's a color? Then why does their band dress in trees or something? Their whole operation is weird."
I couldn't have said it better myself.
Anyway, awesome game! I mean, AWESOME, like scream til you lose your voice and high five random other fans awesome. A come-from-behind victory when we were down 21 points with less than 10 minutes left in the game. The Cardinal fans were already starting to talk sh*t and I was on the verge of tears thinking, "There goes our undefeated record." But they did it! They actually did it. They won in Stanford stadium for the first time since 1997, and I was there!

I found Karen! Look how happy we are that we won =P
I remember how I used to go to the games and the Bruins would start clawing themselves out of the hole and I'd get all excited and then they would choke. I remember that awful, disappointing feeling in the pit of my stomach and trudging to the car in misery afterward. But not today. I must say I think I turned into one of those crazed, maniacal fans this evening. I was jumping up and down, my hands were red and raw from clapping, and I'm pretty sure I made someone in front of me deaf. But, that was seriously one of the most exciting games I've been to. Even my friend Roland (who went to Davis and doesn't even really like UCLA)was grabbing my arm during the suspenseful moments, and I got squished when he and Eddie decided to high five/hug each other while I was standing between them. I was so happy when Olson completed that last touchdown pass I wanted to run down on the field and give them all a hug.
God, I love football =)
Now if we can just beat 'SC ...
